Wasted Time

Updated: Sep 27, 2022

While thinking about the definition of social cohesion and the connection to coffee breaks in the video with Margaret Heffeman, I reflected on the countless opportunities educators have missed based on community norms. We have been taught to appear productive. Therefore, congregating around the Keurig in the teacher’s lounge can be viewed as a teacher with too much time to waste. We must do a better job of truly getting to know each other and making connections, not in a mindset of wastefulness but in the spirit of community and team building. For this to take hold, we must view coffee breaks as an opportunity to connect and a necessary investment of time.
