Are you teaching in a bubble?

If you are like me, the last thing that you may be interested in is adding to your current responsibilities as a teacher. With many teachers prepping for multiple classes and facing increasing stress, the job of an educator can oftentimes feel overwhelming. After reading 3 Steps For Building A Professional Learning Network, I thought this was a great idea but how would I find the time? I had no additional capacity for one more task. Then it hit me. My perspective may be all wrong. While I was in fact working with the teachers on my campus, I was not working with any teachers outside of my campus, therefore, I limited my exposure to the shared ideas. Collaborating with colleagues on campus is necessary and convenient but the learning community at-large has so much more to offer. Because of this understanding, I have now decided to designate twenty minutes a week to collaborate and learn outside of my bubble. I’m not adding time to my day but I am adjusting the amount of time I dedicated towards on campus collaborating. Therefore, I have joined the groups below based on content and my areas of interest.
